Description
We believe that the key to brewing a great strong beer is to make it well-balanced with a good use of hops. This makes Otter Head easily drinkable and an excellent choice with food. Whilst it has a distinctive barley wine, old ale character it remains light to drink with a malty, fruity and slightly sweet flavour with a long bittersweet aftertaste. The fruit and malt aroma sits well with the beer’s deep, luxurious red/brown colour – still a firm favourite on many bars and in plenty of homes.

Otter is our local brewery and, in our view, is the finest beer on earth. We have a regular order of a case of Otter Ale, my favourite, and a case of Otter Head, my Wife’s favourite. She was brought up on good beer and used to be able to drink me under the table so she prefers the extra strength of Head. The first mouthful of a cool pint of either when one is thirsty is like tasting the elixir of life! Note: I am only very slightly prone to exaggeration.

Pleasant, full bodied and rounded with pleasing aftertaste. Slightly sparkly for me, but to be expected from a bottled ale. I prefer he lovely draught Otter (Ruby?) served at the Square and Compass, Worth Matravers, Dorset! But I am also happy to continue with the bottled variety!

A superb beer. Strong dark and ( @. 5.8% vol ) could make you pixilated quite quickly. I woke up at the kitchen table at 2 am. this morning. Still got 3 bottles left in the box!
