![]() THE DEVON FOOD BOOKThe Devon Food Book is Carol's legacy to the cheese makers, cider makers, brewers, bakers, beekeepers, fishermen, farmers, butchers, smokers, curers, restaurateurs, publicans, chefs and hoteliers who all help to link the landscape to the food on our plates. Accompanied by stunning photography from her friend and long term collaborator Adam Woolfitt, no one was better poised to bring the stories behind Devon's rich food culture to life.
Sadly Carol passed away in October after a three-year battle with leukaemia, news that left us, and her scores of friends across the Westcountry, absolutely devastated. It would be a bit of an understatement to say Carol packed a lot into her life. We first met in April 2007 in her role as Food & Drink Editor for The Western Morning News and by that time she had already worked with the BBC, Taste of the West and published two very well received books.
We couldn't have asked for a more supportive friend and we feel extremely honoured to have been included in this definitive guide to the best of what Devon has to offer. The 352 page hardback book is available in bookshops and is on sale at The Holt. It can also be ordered online from www.james-crowden.co.uk and from Amazon. |
