2015 OTTER RAIL & RIVER RUN
The 2015 Otter Rail and River Run will take place at Tipton St John on Saturday 11th July and it's great to be involved again.
Organised by the playing field association in conjunction with Sidmouth Running Club this multi-terrain 10km now in its ninth year is increasing in popularity, attracting a field of more than 150 in 2014.
There's also a 1.5 mile fun run, which last year had 70 entries.
Very much a community event, local people step in to marshal, run water stations, hand out medals and mementoes and help with refreshments - adding to the friendly village atmosphere.
The run is the major fundraising event for the playing field, which is owned by the village and managed by volunteers. Start times are 10.30am for the fun run and 11am for the 10km. Both routes are the same as in recent years.
You can view the route map here Otter run 2015 map and read our run background piece for more details https://tiptonpfa.wordpress.com/otter-run-history/
Entry fees have been held at £8 for affiliated club runners, £10 for unaffiliated, both £2 extra on the day, and £3 entry for the fun run.
There are prizes and medals in both events - with of course the popular pint of Otter Bitter for 10km finishers, aged 18 plus. Fairtrade chocolate for under 18s and non-beer drinkers.
Perpetual shields will be presented to the winning men's and ladies 10km teams, and the overall and local winners in the Jackie Box Fun Run. There are veteran category prizes in the 10km in 5 year age groupings and age prizes in the fun run.
