![]() GLASTONBURY 2010Well what an amazing weekend that was! Glastonbury is always a mammoth event, but in this, our fifth year of supplying the festival, we seemed to have broken all previous records. Derek the Otter could be seen on pump clips across the site in a number of apt guises and the atmosphere, helped by the great weather, was absolutely electric. Few will ever forget Stevie Wonder's amazing set to finish things off. Our drivers became owls for the weekend and did a sterling job keeping the bars sufficiently well stocked. The only opportunity to access the site, remove empties and bring in fresh barrels was the rather ungodly time of around 3.30 each morning when most, but not quite everyone was asleep. Otter Ale and Otter Bitter was available from a total of 12 bars this time and not just as a guest ale as in previous years. This equated to nearly 600 firkins across the four days or approximately half of all the cask ale drunk by the thousands of thirsty revellers. What a positive message for the industry that is and just the right demographic to have as fans of cask ale. Well done to Michael Eavis and the organisers for a totally superb weekend and also to the whole Otter team for not only brewing and delivering enough beer but also helping to make sure all the bars ran smoothly - it's a tough job but someone has to do it!
Our next public outings will be to Powderham on the 11th & 12th July for Crash Box Club's 36th Historic Vehicle Gathering (a must for any car lover), the Honiton Show on the 5th August, the amazing Beautiful Days festival from August 20th to the 22nd and then, one very dear to our hearts, the Widecombe Fair on the 14th September. |
